Our speakers are:

Bill Winters – CEO of Standard Chartered.

Bill Winters is the Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered PLC (since Jun ‘15). Standard Chartered is a UK headquartered, emerging markets focussed bank, with a presence in 59 markets across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Bill spent 26 years with JP Morgan and was Co-CEO of the Investment Bank (2004-2009). He has served as a committee member of the Independent Commission on Banking, established by the UK Govt (2010) and as an advisor to the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards. Bill also founded Renshaw Bay, a credit fund which he ran from 2011-2015.

Bill is deeply engaged in driving the climate finance agenda. Under his leadership, Standard Chartered chairs the Net Zero Banking Alliance. Bill chaired the Taskforce for Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets, a global private-sector initiative that developed a roadmap to scale high-integrity carbon markets. Bill also co-Chairs the B20 Taskforce for Finance & Infrastructure, which has a special focus on unlocking finance for green infrastructure.

Bill is a Non-Executive Director of Novartis International AG. He was awarded a CBE in 2013 and holds an MBA from Wharton.

Peter Flavel – CEO of Coutts Bank the world’s 8th oldest bank.

Peter Flavel joined Coutts as CEO in March 2016 and under his leadership, Coutts has undergone significant transformation across all of the Bank’s key performance targets. Peter’s passion for innovation and raising the bar on service standards has led to a market-leading net promoter score from Coutts’ clients. He has revived Coutts’ branding and image to be more warm and modern, whilst taking pride in its history.

Peter has over 30 years of experience in financial services across Asia, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Coutts, Peter was the CEO of J.P. Morgan Private Wealth Management in Asia Pacific based in Singapore. Peter also spent nine years with Standard Chartered in Asia and founded their global Private Bank in 2006.

Peter is vice Chair of Trustees of the Duke of Edinburgh Commonwealth Study Conference, a member of the Philanthropy Advisory Committee of the Royal Albert Hall and a commissioner for Global Britain.

Peter was born in Australia and has degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Adelaide and initially practiced law as a barrister and solicitor. He has also attended the advanced management Programmes at Harvard Business School, University of Oxford and Singularity University.

Jennifer Jordan-Saifi – Assistant Private Secretary of The Prince of Wales’ Sustainable Markets Initiative.

Jennifer Jordan-Saifi took on the role of Assistant Private Secretary (Commonwealth) to Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on 28 August, 2018. Previously, Jennifer served as Deputy Director for United Nations Strategic Policy with Global Affairs Canada from 2016-2018. Prior to this, Jennifer served as Senior Advisor for Public Service Innovation and Design (2015-2016), and as Deputy Director and Negotiator for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (2014-2015).

Jennifer joined Global Affairs Canada in 2008 after working for eight years as an independent consultant and journalist in the Middle East covering the continuum of humanitarian affairs, peacebuilding, and international development. Based primarily in Jerusalem, covering both the Second Intifada and the 2003 Iraq War, she spent three years working with the International Committee of the Red Cross and three working with one of USAID’s main development partners, CHF International. With her in-depth knowledge of the region, she was also routinely contracted by the United Nations, the World Bank as well as local and international NGOs. Despite often extreme conditions, she advocated for solutions by building capacity around trauma, holistic education, social enterprise, solution driven innovation, participatory community-based design, branding and communication, and ecosystem development.

In 2008, Jennifer’s first position with Global Affairs Canada was as an Evaluation Manager where she had the opportunity to assess over $1 billion CAD covering political, trade and development portfolios. In 2011, she took on the role of Deputy Director for the renewal of Canada’s Americas Strategy, establishing a five year whole-of-government policy and implementation structure across 35 departments and 35 countries. In 2013, she led the operationalization of Canada’s International Education Strategy. Throughout her time in Government, Jennifer has twice been nominated for the Public Service Award for Innovation and has received a number of Deputy Minister Awards and Citations.

In 2015, a highlight of her career, Jennifer was selected to participate in the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference that invited 250 Canadians to travel across the country to learn directly from sector leaders about the opportunities, challenges and realities facing the nation. This experience led her to co-found a unique social enterprise platform, Awesome Eh, that enables leaders across sectors to share their vision and collaborate towards a more positive future. She has also served as an Advisor to the Board of the Centre for Social Enterprise Development (CSED) in Ottawa.

Described as a visionary thinker and instinctive leader, Jennifer inspires others to question the status quo and reimagine the world around them. She believes that disruptive thinking shapes our view of the possible, awakens creativity, and can encourage more people to use their voice for bold action. Jennifer recognizes that in the 21st century, global capital is increasingly that of ideas and mobilization.

Jennifer grew up as part of a military family and has lived and travelled around the world. She has an MBA, an MA in Human Security and a BA in Psychology and enjoys graphic design, languages and film-making. She has a husband and three sons and is passionately vegan.
